Ride to work/ Bike to work/ Cycle to work Scheme
At the cycle centre we offer a range of bikes on the government’s Cycle to work scheme. The Cycle to work schemes is offered by many providers but they all comply with the government guidelines on Cycle to Work Scheme.
How does the Cycle to work scheme work?
Broadly speaking there are two income tax types in Ireland, and the savings achieved under the cycle work scheme will depend on the tax rate you pay:
Lower rate- 20% Tax
This applies if you have an Income of €35,300 or less. If you fall into this category you can save 20% on the purchase of the bike up to a maximum value of €1,250 (normal bike) and €1,500 (E-bike). The bike is put through as a non-taxable amount on your payslip and your employer pays us directly.
Marginal & Higher rate
This applies if you have an income above €35,300. If you fall into this category you can save between 33% and 49% of the cost of the bike up to a maximum value of €1,250 (normal bike) or up to €1,500 (for an E-bike)
The scheme enables you to apply once every 3 years so it’s best to utilize the full allowable cap to €1,250 (normal bike) and €1,500 (E-bike) if you can afford to do it.
