Appearances can be deceptive – the Travel EXC is no ordinary sports tourer. A light, versatile machine built around 700c wheels, Shimano’s rugged 8-speed Alfine hub and Gates’ ultra-durable CDX belt, it consigns rattling gears and oily chains to the past. There’s clearance for tough, comfortable tyres up to 37×622 – with full-length mudguards included. Powerful Shimano hydraulic disc brakes keep you in full control and the full complement of touring accessories – including lighting set, kickstand and luggage rack – means you’re all set to go.
Frame description
It’s the details that matter, so that your bike just gets out of the way and lets you enjoy the ride. That’s why we used double-butted aluminium tubes for the Travel’s frame – so that it’s both light and strong. It’s the reason there’s enough clearance to run tough, comfortable 29er tyres up to 2.15in wide. And it’s the thinking behind the light, accurate aluminium fork’s lowrider rack compatibility and the semi-integrated luggage carrier. Just jump on and ride.
